8:01s- The first election results released by a county. Name refers to one minute after polls close at 8 PM. Actual 8:01's often not released until hours later. Data used by political campaigns to estimate how votes were distributed among mail ballots received ahead of Election Day. When combined with final election night results allows campaigns to extrapolate how poll votes were distributed as well. Used in close elections to estimate the likely outcome of an election even while ballots remain uncounted.
